Movie Fact #746 – January 27th, 2015:

While rapper/actor Common may be heading to the Oscars, nominated for his song “Glory” that he made with singer John Legend for the 2014 film “Selma”, this is not the first time he did a song related to Martin Luther King Jr. for a film. In the 2006 film “Freedom Writers”, Common also wrote and sang the song “A Dream” that heavily samples Martin Luther King Jr.’s historical “I Have a Dream” speech, which relates to the song’s lyrics about racism. Rapper sang the chorus and produced that song.
