Movie Fact #756 – February 6th, 2015

The 1962 film “Birdman of Alcatraz” is an interesting titled film, being a fictionalized account of Robert Stroud (Played by Burt Lancaster), an inmate who kept birds. Stroud really should be known as the “Birdman of Leavenworth,” since it was there that he kept his birds and did his research. He was not actually allowed any birds during his time at Alcatraz. On a side note, at one point, the real Robert Stroud had over 400 birds in his cell.
