Movie Fact #763 – February 13th, 2015:

Actor Benedict Cumberbatch was originally set to play the lead character Sir Thomas Sharpe in the upcoming 2015 film “Crimson Peak”, but left the project for undisclosed reasons so actor Tom Hiddleston took over for him. As they are good friends in real life, Hiddleston asked for Cumberbatch’s blessing before accepting the role with Cumberbatch telling him that it was “Amazing!” to have been replaced by Hiddleston. On another note, actor Charlie Hunnam, who plays the character Dr. Alan McMichael, and Hiddleston had both auditioned for the titular role of 2011’s “Thor” prior to working together in this film. As everyone recalls, Hiddleston had ended up playing Loki in the Marvel movies.
