TV Fact #147 – March 10th, 2015:

“Famous Jett Jackson” (1998-2001) show creator Fracaswell Hyman reportedly devised the character before casting actor Lee Thompson Young for the role. Interestingly, like the character of Jett Jackson that he played, Young was raised in a single parent home in the South, and decided on an acting career at an early age. Young went on to write one of the episodes produced for the series. The best actors for roles always end up being those most like that part.
