Regarding the number episodes, the longest running North American science fiction television series are “Smallville” (2001-2011) with 218 episodes, “Stargate SG-1” (1997-2007) with 214 episodes, and “The X-Files” (1993-2002) with 202 episodes. “Smallville” and “Stargate SG-1” both ran for 10 seasons while “The X-Files” ran for 9 seasons. They are shows that have touched and intrigued and explored imagination…and they lived on long during and after their broadcast eras have ended.
