TV Fact #177 – April 19th, 2015:

The 1973 TV film “A Doll’s House”, based on the same play by Henrik Ibsen, was originally planned for theaters but another adaptation of the play, also named “A Doll’s House” and starring actress Claire Bloom as the lead character Nora Helmer, played in U.S. theatres that same year. That’s why this version, which starred actress Jane Fonda as Nora Helmer, went directly to network television in the United States even after playing at the New York Film Festival.
