TV Fact #193 – May 5th, 2015:

The show “Spaced” (1999-2001) was directed by popular film director Edgar Wright and written by now-long-time collaborator, actor Simon Pegg, who played the lead character Tim Bisley, along with being written by actress Jessica Stevenson, who played the character Daisy Steiner. Who is missing from this picture? Well none other than Wright and Pegg’s regular collaborator, actor Nick Frost. However, at the time, Frost was not the go-to co-star for Pegg that he is now.

Wright was originally skeptical of casting Frost in the role of Mike Watt. This was because, at the time, Frost was a waiter with no prior acting experience. However, this is where fate comes into play for the character of Mike was in fact born out of Frost making Pegg, his flatmate at the time, laugh. Wright later said that Frost was brilliant in the part.

And so the team of Wright, Pegg, and Frost was born. How many awesome projects have they now done together? I lost count.
