TV Fact #225 – June 6th, 2015:

The role of Michael Stivic in “All in the Family” (1971-1979) was offered to actor Harrison Ford who turned down the part because he felt the bigotry of the lead character Archie Bunker (Played by Carroll O’Connor) was too offensive. It ultimately went to actor Rob Reiner. I suppose you can’t fault Ford for his morality. Interestingly enough, many of his films involve him defending cultures and other races whether it has been Indiana Jones, Han Solo, or Jack Ryan.
