Movie Fact #777 – June 9th, 2015:

The scene in the 1985 film “The Quiet Earth”, loosely based on the 1981 science fiction novel of the same name by Craig Harrison, where lead character Zac Hobson (Played by Bruno Lawrence) is aimlessly wandering the empty streets of the city blowing on a saxophone was an in-joke to those who knew Lawrence. When Lawrence was young, he had once stolen a saxophone, but later felt guilty and returned it. Also, this is the first science-fiction film ever made and produced by the country of New Zealand.
