Movie Fact #788 – June 20th, 2015:

A stage production of the 1959 film “The Fugitive Kind”, whose screenplay was by Meade Roberts and Tennessee Williams which was based on the latter’s 1957 play “Orpheus Descending” that was a revision of Williams’ unproduced 1939 work “Battle of Angels”, took place in 2010 at the Arclight Theatre starring Michael Brando in the lead role of Val Xavier. The last name is not a coincidence. Michael Brando is the grandson of actor Marlon Brando who originally played the role of Val Xavier in “The Fugitive Kind”. Also this particular production used the edited film version of the text as opposed to the original play. I guess Michael really wanted to emulate his grandfather’s work.
