Movie Fact #795 – June 27th, 2015:

The 1988 Polish films “A Short Film About Killing” and “A Short Film About Love”, both directed by director Krzysztof Kieślowski, are actually expanded versions of two episodes from Kieślowski’s 10-part drama series “Decalogue”, which would also be released in 1988. Based on the episodes “Decalogue V” (Adapted into “A Short Film About Killing”) and “Decalogue VI” (Adapted into “A Short Film About Love”), both films used the same cast from the show and changed the stories slightly. These expansion was part of a contractual obligation with the producers, since feature films were easier to distribute outside Poland.
