TV Fact #254 – July 5th, 2015:

The show “Eight Is Enough” (1977-1981) was modeled after syndicated newspaper columnist Thomas Braden, a real-life parent with eight children, who wrote a book with the same name. As a production of the Lorimar stable, who were concurrently producing CBS’s The Waltons (1972-1981), writers were often contracted by the producers and were shared between both programs with “The Waltons” costar, actor Will Geer, making an “Eight is Enough” guest appearance during its second season. So two family shows shared the same writers? I guess the first thing family teaches is to share with your siblings.
