TV Fact #290 – August 9th, 2015:

The five symbols written on the blackboard at the start of each episode of “Ben Casey” (1961-1966) represented man, woman, birth, death and infinity. Also, the main character Ben Casey (Played by Vince Edwards) was based on a real-life neurosurgeon, Dr. Allan ‘Max’ Warner. Dr. Warner later changed his specialty to psychiatry because, for some reason, he believed that his association with the show prevented him from being a board certified neurologist. Ironically the neurologist might have been thinking too much.
