TV Fact #292 – August 11th, 2015:

The police drama series “Naked City” (1958-1963), inspired by the 1948 film “The Naked City” and mimics its dramatic “semi-documentary” format, was the first network series to be filmed entirely in New York City. However, this led to making sure people of the city didn’t confuse the footage shot among them as real. Luckily, because the show was filmed in black and white, the police cars for the show were painted in false colors so that they would not be mistaken for real police cars.
