Movie Fact #856 – August 26th, 2015:

Actor Sean Connery was offered the role of the character Robert Elliot by director Brian De Palma in his 1980 American erotic crime thriller film “Dressed to Kill” before actor Michael Caine took the part. Connery was very enthusiastic about it, but had to decline on account of previous commitments.

Wouldn’t you know it, seven years after the film’s release, Connery would finally have his chance with De Palma, co-starring in his 1987 film “The Untouchables”, based on the 1957 autobiographical memoir of the same name about Eliot Ness co-written by author Oscar Fraley…and would lead to Connery winning the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as the character Jimmy Malone.

Good things come to those who wait.
