Movie Fact #851 – September 10th, 2015:

The title of the 1945 American Technicolor film noir “Leave Her to Heaven”, adapted for the screen by screenwriter Jo Swerling from the best selling novel of the same name by author Ben Ames Williams, is drawn from playwright William Shakespeare’s play “Hamlet”. In Act I, Scene V, the Ghost urges lead character Hamlet not to seek vengeance against Queen Gertrude, but rather to, as the Ghost said, “leave her to heaven, and to those thorns that in her bosom lodge to prick and sting her.”
