Movie Fact #842 – October 1st, 2015:

The 1956 American Warner Color drama film “Giant”, adapted by screenwriters Fred Guiol and Ivan Moffat from author Edna Ferber’s 1952 novel, has a rather misleading moment of acting from lead actor Rock Hudson and lead actress Elizabeth Taylor, who played the lead characters Jordan “Bick” Benedict Jr. and Leslie Lynnton Benedict, respectively.

One night, Hudson and Taylor went for get-to-know-you drinks at the very start of the production. They both got exceedingly drunk, finishing the evening at 3:00 am…their call-time was at 5:30 am. Fortunately their drunken states ended up feeding a scene.

The scene being shot that morning was a wedding scene with no dialog, so instead of talking, all they had to do was look lovingly at each other. The funny part was the two actors were concentrating so hard on not being sick that they were quite surprised when some of the people on-set started to cry, so convinced were they of their supposed looks of adoration at each other.

Is there a type of drunk that exists to describe someone who acts great when they are drunk?
