The American single-camera legal comedy television series “The Grinder” (2015-Present) featured a family reunion…sort of. On the show, William Devane plays the character Dean Sanderson, Sr. who is the father to the character Stewart Sanderson (Played by Fred Savage). Previously, Devane played Savage’s father on the short lived sitcom, “Crumbs” (2006).
On a side note, both actor Rob Lowe, who plays the lead character Dean Sanderson, Jr. on “The Grinder”, and Savage have both appeared in the “Austin Powers” franchise. Lowe played a younger version of the character Number 2 (Played by Robert Wagner), henchman to Doctor Evil (Played by Mike Myers), in 1999’s “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me” and Savage played Number 3, a mole in Doctor Evil’s organization, in 2002’s “Austin Powers in Goldmember”.
So whether it was working together directly or working on the same franchise, these guys were all on the same wavelength it seems. Could this spell success for the new freshman series “The Grinder”? We’ll find out soon.
