TV Fact #350 – October 8th, 2015:

Little history lesson tonight since “The Last Kingdom” (2015-Present), based on “The Saxon Tales” which is a continuing historical novel series written by author Bernard Cornwell, is premiering this Saturday on BBC America. FIrst off, the series tells the story of Uthred of Bebbanburg (Played by Alexander Dreymon), an Anglo-Saxon who is raised by Norseman who then goes on to become King Alfred the Greats (Played by David Dawson) mightiest warrior.

For political correct reasons, understand the term “Viking” actually meant “pirate” or to go on an adventure. It comes from the Scandinavian “vikingr” and it was NOT a race of people. In reality, the Vikings that came to the shores of Britain and Ireland were actually made up of Danes and Norse as well as many other nationalities.

No one ever said TV couldn’t still be educational.
