TV Fact #357 – October 15th, 2015:

The American television sitcom “The Courtship of Eddie’s Father” (1969-1972), based on the 1963 movie of the same name, saw actor Bill Bixby take over the role of Tom Corbett from actor Glenn Ford who played the character in the 1963 film. Both actors share more than this character.

They both went on to appear in popular comic book adaptations. Ford played Jonathan Kent, adoptive father of Clark Kent (Played by Christopher Reeve), in the 1978 superhero film “Superman”. Bixby went on to play Dr. David Banner in the American television series “The Incredible Hulk” (1977-1982).

There only difference in this situation, unlike Ford, Bixby recieved award nominations for his role on “The Courtship of Eddie’s Father” including an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Continued Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Comedy Series.
