Who doesn’t like to reference their past? Actress America Ferrera did. When she was on the American comedy-drama television series “Ugly Betty” (2006-2010) as the lead character Betty Suarez, on her character’s nightstand sat a copy of the 2001 young adult novel “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” by author Ann Brashares. Before being on “Ugly Betty” Ferrera played the character Carmen Lowell in the film version of the book in the 2005 drama film “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants”.
During her time on “Ugly Betty”, she would end up reprising the role of Carmen in the 2008 sequel “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2”, based upon the fourth novel in “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” series, the 2007 novel “Forever in Blue: The Fourth Summer of the Sisterhood”, but the sequel film also incorporated scenes and storylines from the 2003 sequel novel “The Second Summer of the Sisterhood” and second 2005 sequel novel “Girls in Pants: The Third Summer of the Sisterhood”.
So…that story was about four girls who shared a pair of pants that united them while they were far from each other. I wonder if the other three actresses from those movies somehow plopped that book in their other projects afterwards as well. So…”Sisterhood of the YA Novel”?
