TV Fact #382 – November 9th, 2015:

The ABC television series “Surfside 6” (1960-1962) was one of four detective TV series produced by Warner Bros. around that time, the others being the American television private detective series “77 Sunset Strip”(1958-1964, set in L.A.), the American television series “Hawaiian Eye” (1959,1963, set in Hawaii), and “Bourbon Street Beat” (1959-1960, set in New Orleans). Plots, scripts (changing the names and locales), characters, and almost everything else crossed over from one series to another. This was not a difficult feat since they were all actually shot on the studio’s backlots in Los Angeles. In fact, actor Van Williams starred on the show “Surfside 6” as his character Kenny Madison, a character recycled from “Bourbon Street Beat” after it was cancelled.
